There’s an enormous wave of artistic talent flowing out of India today! We’ve all seen brilliant musical maestros and dancers perform in the UK who have gone on to gather tremendous acclaim and following around the World. But there’s been little opportunity to engage with the new generation of brilliant, captivating artists – the new stars whose passion and dedication is helping to preserve many beautiful and ancient Indian art forms.
With this amazing pool of talent, eagerly waiting to be seen and heard, we thought we would do something radically different for our Autumn season. Undiscovered India is a
national showcase of concerts, featuring brilliant Indian music and dance artists from around the world, off ering you an incredible opportunity to see something unusual and inspiring.
Whilst the season focuses on ‘the Generation Next’ of Indian Arts, we’ll also have special performances of some leading artists, presenting their craft in exciting new ways.
Highlights of the season include a solo performance by one of the world’s leading mridangists, Patri Satish Kumar, and an evening with Pravin Godkhindi, an incredible Bansuri player whose influences cross Western, Carnatic and Jazz genres. Continuing
on the undiscovered theme, we present emerging artist Alif Laila, a US based classical Sitarist, who looks at the conceptual side of music and explores the spontaneous exchange between musician and instrument. In dance, much-loved Kathak artist Sonia Sabri
presents the National Premiere of her brand new commission, Kaavish, combining the rich traditions of classical dance with a fresh contemporary approach. You’ll also be able to rediscover the amazing musical talents of our own country in The Great British Gharana, a brand new & path breaking premiere music concert featuring some of the finest young musicians of Britain who constitute this Gharana.
