Musical Background

What is the biggest influence on your music? The thought that one day I can be touring and creating music like so many of the artists that I look up to today.

How did your Milap journey start? Audition process in 2011.

What is your proudest musical achievement to date? Being part of a professional ensemble like Tarang and producing the music that we have.

I became a musician because… It allowed me to find my own peace and practice became a form of meditation. After several interactions with the leading stars in Indian Classical music and fellow students, my love for what music is grew. The scope for innovation and the ability to connect with every musician out there is where my true passion stems from.

Personal

Who are your favourite artists? Other than my Gurus; Vikku Vinayakram, Neyveli Venkatesh, HN Bhaskar, Abishek Raghuram, Sanjay Subrahmanyam, Jayanthi Kumaresh, Mysore Manjunath and Mysore Nagaraj, Patri Satish Kumar, AS Krishnan and too many more to name.

If I could make my artistic dream come true I would…  be performing regularly throughout the year and be able to do many collaborations with artists from all over the world with different musical backgrounds.

When you’re not playing music, what are your favourite things to do? Listening to other musicians and music. Playing sports. And binge watching TV series.

If I wasn’t a musician, I would be… most probably not have as many experiences as I do which would also mean that I wouldn’t have met some of my best friends. But It would also have allowed for greater focus on my law degree.

What is your favourite musical memory? My favourite and most heart touching musical memory was when a mixed group of members from Samyo and Tarang collaborated with the musicians of ANIM and performed at the Southbank Centre for the Alchemy Festival.

Tarang

Sum up Tarang in 3 words: Innovative, Inspiring and Challenging

The thing I like most about being a Tarang member is… the chemistry we have on and off stage and the memories we have created as a result.

The thing I am most excited about as a Tarang member is… Album release and everything that will follow…
