This year, the shawls presented to the participants and awardees were an aesthetic delight. Ordered specially for the occasion from Kalakshetra Foundation, they received many an admiring eye!

“Sweat. Pain. These are our badges, Leela Akka said. So now, when we’re tired, we’re telling each other that!” The advice is timely; the participants need all the grit and collective goodwill they can muster on Day 3, the most grueling thus far.
The umbrella event under which both solo performances took place, Dance India, is the brainchild of Milapfest, who, for seven years running, have coordinated in the UK an intensive summer learning experience for dancers worldwide, creating for advanced and intermediate students alike the opportunity to learn from eminent gurus.
